CELEBRATING AFRICAN WOMEN THROUGH ART

The Alliance Française Banjul Project hosted renowned artists K2B and Naja, who created 10 graffiti pieces and large-scale mural paintings that celebrate the power, resilience, and achievements of African women.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS

K2B & Naja are renowned muralists known for their vibrant and thought-provoking street art. Their work focuses on storytelling through visual expression, bringing social issues and cultural heritage to life through large-scale paintings. During their residency at AFB, K2B and Naja embarked on an ambitious artistic project: the creation of 10 portraits of women in the public spaces of The Gambia, specifically in Serrekunda and Banjul.

This project includes 4 portraits of Gambian women, 4 portraits of African women, as well as 2 portraits imagined by the artists, showcasing their commitment to recognizing and celebrating feminine diversity.

They are celebrated muralists known for transforming urban spaces into cultural storytelling canvases. Their work highlights influential African figures and social movements through striking visual narratives. 

THE ARTISTS

K2B is a professional graffiti artist whose talent is recognized nationally and internationally. Since 2015, she has participated in various projects, collaborating with individuals, festivals, and other significant events across France. Her work mainly focuses on creating portraits.
